Hog futures higher to start the week

At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder cattle were mixed ahead of the week’s direct business.  August live cattle closed $.17 lower at $170.50 and October live cattle closed $.47 lower at $174.02.  August feeder cattle closed $.27 lower at $233.67 and September feeders closed $.20 lower at $237.50. 

It was a typically quiet Monday for direct cash cattle business.  Showlists this week are lower across all major feeding areas.  Bids and asking were not established.
