Keokuk City Council Meetings
The City of Keokuk has begun to set its goals and decide the direction it will take in 2017. Monday night the city council held its 2017 goal setting session at city hall. University of Iowa Institute of Public Affairs Director Jeff Schott moderated the meeting which began with introductions from each of the 7 present council members including their ideas for the direction Keokuk needs to take moving forward. Schott also highlighted goals and directives that were set at the last goal setting session in November of 2015 to gauge the progress the city has made since then. The council also reviewed the results of the Comprehensive Plan questionnaire to come up with new ideas for how to improve the city. Schott was impressed with the ingenuity and cooperation of the council, which claimed is not always the case when there are differing opinions. The final action taken was to have council members vote to prioritize which new initiatives the city needs to pursue. Those initiative items will be highlighted Wednesday on KOKX.
