Albert Vernon Ancelet, 78, died peacefully at Blessing Hospital on June 10th, 2026.

Albert was born on November 25th, 1947, in Keokuk, Iowa. He attended Carthage High School, graduating in 1965. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1969. After his military service, he attended Illinois State University and Chicago Kent College of Law, graduating in 1975, having won many awards for his academic accomplishments. After graduation, he joined the Capps Law Firm in Carthage, Illinois, and quickly became a partner in the firm. He practiced all forms of law until his recent retirement. He was an exceptional attorney and respected by his peers.

Albert was an amazing man in all ways. Everyone who knew him was touched by his charm, charisma, intelligence, humor, and larger than life personality. To know Albert was to love him.

Albert is survived by his children Jeff (Ellen) Ancelet and Amy (Adin) Sloan, his beloved partner of many years, Kelly McKinley, his sister Alice (Larry) Mann, sister Susie Cole, and brother Don (Carolyn) Cole.

He was proceeded in death by his son Scott, sister Mary, mother Marjorie Bisby, and father Vernon Ancelet.

A memorial service will be held at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage on Wednesday, June 24th at 11am. Following the service, a celebration of life will be held at the Eagles Club in Carthage. Friends are encouraged to share their favorite memories and stories about Albert.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Albert’s name to Carthage VFW, Eagles Club, or Carthage Golf Club. Printy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
