A Northeast Arkansas farmer says this is the earliest he’s had a crop planted since 2005.
Derek Haigwood says his corn and soybean crops look good. “Our corn and soybeans are spot on,” he says. “We got them in early. They came up nicely, no weather pressure on the soybeans as of yet. The corn in the sandier ground is showing some dryness. So we’ll start turning on the wells.”
Statewide, 67% of both the corn and soybean crops are rated good to excellent. Soybeans are 89% planted, 81% emerged, and 3% blooming. Wheat is 73% coloring and 1% harvested.
He tells Brownfield his rice is ahead of schedule.
