The 2023 planting season is finished up for a central Illinois farmer and now he is just waiting for rain. U.S. ethanol production climbed higher last week as stocks tightened. WASHINGTON, May 3, 2023 – Today the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the creation of 12 new USDA Regional Food Business Centers that will provide national coverage coordination, technical assistance, and capacity building to help farmers, ranchers, and other food businesses access new markets and navigate federal, state, and local resources, thereby closing the gaps to success.
The USDA is rolling out an additional $130 million in assistance for distressed farmers facing financial risk. The agency’s announcement comes after a similar $123 million allocation in March. The funding is part of $3.1 billion in Inflation Reduction Act funds to help distressed farm loan borrowers.
