Beulah Marie Luft, 95, of Hamilton, passed away at 3:35 PM Thursday afternoon October 3, 2024, in Hamilton. Beulah was born at home with her twin sister, Bernice, to Ray and Marie (Nagel) Buckert in rural Sutter, Illinois. She attended Mt. Vernon one room schoolhouse down the road from their home though the 8th grade. She and Bernice started cleaning houses as teenagers. She painted LP tanks for FS in Hancock County and tended bar for Bernice for a few years in the 1970’s. Her favorite job was driving the van for the Carthage Senior Center. She picked up seniors for meals and other activities. She later attended the Hamiton Senior Center. She enjoyed BINGO and playing cards. Beulah was a real people person. She loved country and western music and dancing. She also enjoyed playing the slot machines and going to the casinos. She enjoyed being outside gardening and mowing her yard. On November 14, 1947, she married Clyde Luft. They met roller skating at Scotties Roller Rink in Carthage. They lived on a farm east of West Point. Clyde preceded her in death on October 20, 1979. She is survived by three sons, Merlin (Lita) Luft of Hamilton, Steve (Kay) Luft of Olathe, KS, Carroll (Sheri) Luft of McVeightown, PA; two daughters, Connie (Roger) MacDermott of Hamilton and Shelly (Brad) Rowland of Sullivan, IL; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren; and one brother, Carroll Buckert of Shafer, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; parents; two brothers, Paul and Leo Buckert; five sisters, Mary Wells, Hazel Beeler, Blanche Slothouber, Bernice Clark and Goldie Caley; and one sister-in-law, Suzanne Buckert. Funeral services will be held at Printy Funeral Home in Hamilton at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 12th, 2024, with burial to follow in the West Point Cemetery, West Point, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of services at 11:00 am at the funeral home on Saturday. Memorials may be directed to the Hamilton Senior Center or Lee County Hospice. Printy Funeral Home of Hamilton is in charge of arrangements.
