Several hundred people made their way to Wever Wednesday afternoon to take in the grand opening of the Iowa Fertilizer Plant. Included in that group were Governor Terry Branstad, Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds, as well as several executives from the IFC as well as parent company OCI NV. A featured speaker presentation was held prior to a ribbon cutting ceremony on the Iowa Fertilizer Plant property. IFC President Larry Holley took the stage first to announce that the plant was now up and running. Holley received applause before highlighting the many technological and environmental friendly features of the plant. Soon-to-be Iowa governor Kim Reynolds commended Lee County for its perseverance through tough economic times. The final speaker to take the stage was governor and Ambassador to China Appointee Terry Branstad who may have been more enthused than any of the previous speakers. After a ceremonial ribbon cutting visitors were welcomed to a bus tour of the plant which spans the size of a small city.
