The USDA says four percent of the state’s corn is planted, 22 percent behind last year and 13 percent behind the five-year average. Kansas drought holds steady, planting rolls on

The drought in Kansas mostly held steady last week allowing for widespread planting. The latest crop progress and condition report from USDA says winter wheat fell to 25 percent good-to-excellent. Sixty-seven percent of the crop has jointed, 10 percent has headed.
