Kansas drought holds steady, planting rolls on

The drought in Kansas mostly held steady last week allowing for widespread planting.

The latest crop progress and condition report from USDA says winter wheat fell to 25 percent good-to-excellent. Sixty-seven percent of the crop has jointed, 10 percent has headed.

Thirty-five percent of corn is planted with eight percent of the crop emerged.  Soybeans planted reached 11 percent last week, ahead of 10 percent from last year.

Sorghum planting is underway.
