Dane County spotlighted during Wisconsin’s 75th Alice in Dairyland selection

Wisconsin’s 75th Alice in Dairyland will be selected in Dane County this year.  Selection Committee member Jill Makovek was Wisconsin’s 60th Alice and tells Brownfield so many people think of Dane County for the capitol city and Madison being the hub of politics, the four lakes around Madison, and the conventions, but there’s more. “Two-thirds of the county is agriculture and that encompasses about half a million acres of farmland spread between 25-hundred farms that are mostly family-owned, so we wanted to showcase that.”

Makovek says the Alice in Dairyland finals move to different parts of the state every year to learn about different agricultural products from those areas, so the six finalists announced Friday will be getting a closer look at Dane County agriculture.
