Dr. Carole Richardson

Dr. Carole Richardson, 74, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.

Carole was born on June 14, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Melvin and Johnnie Mae (Wiggins) Richardson. She was united in marriage to Geni Petersen in Burlington, Vermont, in 2010. She survives. She is also survived by her children Amanda and Christopher and grandsons Brandon and Emmett.

Carole attended Mackinac College, Central Michigan University and finally Western Michigan University, receiving her Public Administration Doctorate. She went on to have a robust career, retiring as Vice President of Academic Affairs at Southeastern Community College in 2019. She was formerly an active member of the AAUW (American Association of University Women) and KARE (the Keokuk Association for Rights and Equality). She enjoyed spending her free time reading, traveling and listening to music.
