EPA rejects chlorpyrifos rule objections

The EPA is not budging on its new chlorpyrifos rules.

The agency denied all objections, hearing requests, and requests to stay the final rule Monday.  The new rule was issued in August of last year and revokes all tolerances for the pesticide on food.  EPA issued the rule saying it could not determine there is reasonable certainty of no harm from exposure to the chemical.

Chlorpyrifos use will still be allowed for non-food uses including tobacco, ornamental plants, and forest trees.
