Fort Madison School Board Impressed with Superintendent

The Fort Madison School Board gave Superintendent Erin Slater a ringing endorsement at a special board meeting Thursday night. The special session was held to review Slater’s first year as the district superintendent. Board President Timm Lamb stated that Slater has implemented many new initiatives which have been very successful in her first year. Another discussion that was held at the meeting was reviewing the recent bond referendum for a 27 million dollar new elementary school which barely failed to receive the 60 percent passage it needed 2 weeks ago. The board agreed that district finances and the bond issue will be the biggest issues in the next school year before deciding to discuss the bond issue further at the next regular meeting July 17^th.
