Francis LaCava

Francis LaCava, 75, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Mississippi Valley Healthcare Center.

He was born on October 15, 1949, in Worcester, Massachusetts, the son of Eugene and Mildred (Abdella) LaCava.

On May 11, 2001, Francis was united in marriage to Erlinda Saldivar in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. She remains to cherish his memory.

In the 1970s, Francis worked as a harness horse trainer, a career that allowed him to follow his lifelong passion for horses and racing. He later worked in event security in Massachusetts, where he built lasting friendships and connections. His love for horses remained a central part of his life, and he always enjoyed sharing that enthusiasm with others.

Along with his wife Erlinda, Francis is survived by his daughter Mandy LaCava; his son Francis LaCava Jr.; two grandsons, Toby and Caleb; three brothers, Paul LaCava, Eugene LaCava, and James LaCava; and his best friend, John Utterback.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
