Jesse is a second-year master’s student in the Department of Plant Science at the University of Manitoba, under the supervision of Dr. Robert Duncan. During his undergraduate degree he was a summer research associate for DL Seeds, whose primary focus is to breed new canola hybrids for the North American market. In his four summers with DL Seeds, he was exposed to all aspects of the breeding program. This experience gave him the desire to continue his education and pursue a master’s degree in plant breeding and genetics at the University of Manitoba with a focus on identifying pod shatter tolerance in Brassica napus.
