GlenRose Akers, 99, of Hamilton, IL passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the Carthage Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family. She was born October 7, 1924, in Hamilton, IL, the daughter of Ernest and Alma Goldsberry. She attended Hamilton High School. She was married to Terrence McFarland in 1941, and they had four children, Bonnie Wells, Terry McFarland, Rosalie (Randy) Shaffer, and Ronald McFarland. He preceded her in death in 1948. She married Jackson Akers in 1950, he passed away on November 4, 1998.
She was an active member of the Hamilton First Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing cards, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Bonnie Wells, Rosalie (Randy) Shaffer, and Ronald McFarland, Grandchildren, Jan Wells Seyfert, Kris (Dan) Stevens, Scott Shaffer, Rebecca (Jeff) Jones, Great Grandchildren, Allyson (Trevor) Knipe, Bryce Buckert, Aiden Seyfert, and Tucker Stevens.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, son Terry, grandson, Terry Wells, her brother, Frank Goldsberry, her sister, Irene Wright.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the First Christian Church in Hamilton, IL. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 at the church. Interment will be immediately following the funeral service at Oakwood Cemetery. Printy Funeral Home is overseeing arrangements.
A memorial fund has been established for the First Christian Church of Hamilton.
