Iowa farmer hopes to start planting soon

A western Iowa farmer says weather still has him on the sidelines for the 2023 planting season.

Kevin Ross raises corn, soybeans, and hay near Minden. “We’ve just had really cool weather,” he said. “It looks like we’ve got a lot of cool nights ahead too, but some sunshine. That and we’ve also caught some rain here recently in the last week and a half. Those were a welcome sight because we were pretty dry.”

He tells Brownfield he hopes conditions will be warmer by next week so he can start planting soybeans.
