Joshua “Josh” Leon Helmick, 43, of Floris passed away December 7, 2024 in Keokuk.
He was born September 1, 1981 in Bloomfield, IA the son of Arthur Phillips and Tammy Helmick.
He was married to Bobbi Sackman they later divorced.
Josh was employed with Domino’s Pizza in Ottumwa and also did concrete work in Wichita, Kansas.
Josh was a free spirit who lived life on his own terms. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and immersing himself in the intensity of heavy metal music.
He was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Rams and the Iowa Hawkeyes, he never missed the chance to cheer on his favorite teams. Above all, Josh valued the time he spent with his family.
He is survived by his mother Tammy Fink (Casey) of Norwalk, IA, his father Arthur Phillips of Keokuk, a brother, Dylan (Elizabeth) Helmick of Hillsboro, IA, two half-sisters, Cassi Brotherton and LaShae Brotherton, one half-brother, Blythe Brotherton, three nephews, Dutton, Jesse, and Ryver and a niece on the way, Marijayn Helmick. He is also survived by two special ladies that he adored, Becca Hall and Miracle Hall.
He is also survived by his uncles, Carey Helmick, James Helmick, and Dan Helmick (Allison), an aunt, Amy Downing, several cousins including a close cousin, Terry Wilfawn, and his grandparents, Judy Benge and Duane Helmick (Barb) and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by grandfather, Lonnie Benge and grandmother, Mary Phillips.
A Gathering of Remembrance will be held from 2-4 pm on December 21st, at the Vigen Memorial Home with family meeting with friends at that time.
Memorials may be made to the family.
The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is assisting the family with arrangements.
