Larry Dean Mixer

Larry Dean Mixer, 69, of Montrose, passed away at his home on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

He was born on November 21, 1956, in Fort Madison, the son of James M. and Goldie Bentzinger Mixer. Larry graduated from Fort Madison High School with the Class of 1975 and later continued his education at Southeastern Community College and Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.

Larry was a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed his time working at Bridgeway, where he valued the opportunity to support and encourage others. A dedicated conservationist, Larry cherished spending time outdoors and especially loved fishing.

He is survived by his son, Dakota Mixer of Montrose; his mother, Goldie Pruett of Montrose; a niece, Christina St. Clair of Montrose; and two great-nieces and two great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Mixer; his stepfather, Richard Dale Pruett, Sr., on June 13, 2006; and his sister, Marilyn Holmes, on October 21, 2023.

In accordance with Larry’s wishes, no services will be held.

The Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk is assisting the family with arrangements.
