The Lee County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday morning at the Sheriff’s Office but much of the meeting was closed to the public. Agenda item number 3 called for the meeting to be closed as it pertained to a personnel matter at the county level. Once the meeting was reopened, the board approved a contract to Krohl Incoporated of New Hampton Iowa to perform a 6 inch concrete overlay on 243rd street outside of Keokuk. The project will include 4.3 miles of the old Highway 218 at a cost of just under 1.7 million dollars. The board also approved the 2018 secondary roads construction program which includes the 5 year repair and replacement plan for secondary roads in Lee county. Finally the board approved the first reading of an E911 ordinance which would place signage in trailer parks and campgrounds to make locating homes and campsites more feasible for emergency personnel.
