Leslie Claud Chapin

Leslie Claud Chapin, 77, of West Point, IL, passed away at 3:27 AM, Monday, July 13, 2026, at his home.

Leslie was born February 2, 1949, in Denton, Texas, the son of Aubrey and Dessie (Quisenberry) Chapin. On July 14, 1978, he was united in marriage to Zonna Leola Watkins and she preceded him in death on December 10, 2013. Leslie worked from the time he was twelve years old as a roofer. He enjoyed fishing, camping and anything outdoors.

Leslie is survived by his children, Dessie Putnam and Leslie Kirby of Quincy, Dallas (Jessica) Chapin of LaHarpe and Cindy (Kevin) Hardy of West Point; stepchildren, Maynard (Stephany) Stratton of Pearl, MS, Rebecca Pittman of Hannibal, Missouri and Elbert (Kristine) McGowan of The Colony, TX; one sister, Claudine Brown of Alvoid, TX; fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and thirteen step grandchildren, forty -two step great grandchildren and two great great step grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Zonna; stepchildren, Howard Stratton and Veronica Pryor; siblings, Audrey George, Troy Chapin and Tina Chapin; and step son-in-law, Paul Pittman.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Printy Funeral Home for funeral expenses.
