Lorri Ann Walker, 61, of Warsaw, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, September 6, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Lorri was born on July 17, 1964, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Vernie Lee and Helen Louise (Jeffrey) Byrn. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1982, and went on to study computer science at Carl Sandburg College. On August 12, 1995, she was united in marriage to Dean William Walker in Hamilton, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2025.

Lorri was employed at Henniges for almost thirty-seven years, beginning in 1988. She became a union representative around 1994. She held a divisional chair position for three terms, then became vice president for two terms. Lorri later became the first female president at the local union, serving four terms until her passing. She cared deeply about the union, the people she represented and the community she served. She was heavily involved in the Women of Steel for sixteen years, and the annual food drive they held, and served the Alzheimer’s community.  She also held a position on the Labor Advisory Board at the University of Iowa. She never regretted her involvement in the union and was proud of the work she accomplished. In addition to the union, she loved spending her free time with her family, working in her flower garden, buying and selling antiques, and never passing up a bargain. Lorri was the definition of a “people-person” and had a generous and compassionate heart. She always stayed busy taking care of others with a servant’s heart.

Lorri is survived by her mother Helen Byrn of Warsaw; two children: Chris (Deena) Schulz of Mendon, Illinois, and Nathan (Jason Kerr) Schulz of Oakville, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Caleb and Leigha Schulz, Tyler Walker, Nicolas Walker, Alanna Lair, Wesley Lair, and Waylon Walker; three step-children: Travis Walker of Alma, Wisconsin, Dawn (Charles) Lair of Coralville, Iowa, and Wyatt (Amber) Walker of Nauvoo, Illinois; four nieces and nephews: Latorah Rowe, Shanda Kennedy, Jacqueline Runge and Jeff Byrn; her sister by marriage Karen Trageser of Manteca, California; and several cousins.

Lorri is preceded in death by her father Vernie and three siblings: Randy Byrn, Terri Lear and Kathy Byrn.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw, with a luncheon to follow at the Keokuk Labor Temple. A funeral procession will leave the Keokuk Labor Hall at 2 pm for burial at Appanoose Cemetery in Niota, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, from 4 to 7 pm, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Women of Steel.
