Louise Mae Harvey, 88, of Keokuk, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.
Louise was born on May 7, 1936, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the daughter of Richard and Marjorie (Holliday) Stonehouse. In 1957, she was united in marriage to Glenn Harvey in New Boston, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 2006. Louise graduated from Argyle School and went back to college in her fifties to obtain her teaching degree.
Louise was a member of Argyle Presbyterian Church. She worked at Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison for twenty-three years, where she retired. She was also employed as a lunch lady, school bus driver and at Swift’s Turkey Factory in Keokuk. Louise enjoyed playing the organ, traveling with her husband in their RV, crafting and crocheting, the company of her cat Eddy and the hummingbirds in her feeders. Most of all, she loved her family and was very involved in her grandchildren’s lives.
Louise is survived by two sons: Alan Harvey of New Boston, Iowa, and Leonard (Tanya) Harvey of Argyle, Iowa; her daughter Debbie (Randy) Voss of Warsaw; eleven grandchildren: Matthew Harvey, AJ (Jordan) Harvey, Darcie Voss, Denise McCoy, Josh Voss, Anna (Scott) Miller, Krista (JB) Taylor, Kayla Harrison (Fiance Taylor Murphy), Levi Voss (Angel Rose), Emma Harvey and Everly Harvey; her sister Sharon Stonehouse of Burlington, Iowa; her brother Rodney Stonehouse of Iowa City, Iowa; twenty-two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn Harvey, her grandson Michael Harvey, her brother Dick Stonehouse, her sister Joan Elmore and her son Alan’s significant other Martha Manshein.
Funeral services will be held at 12 pm (Noon) on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Printy Funeral Home, 917 Blondeau Street, Keokuk, Iowa, with burial to follow at Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10 am to 12 pm (Noon) directly before the service.
