Maria G. Prado

Maria G. Prado, 80, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 11:36 a.m. on Friday, April 17, 2026, at The Bird House Hospice Home in Iowa City, IA. She was born on April 29, 1945 in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Jesus & Maria DeJesus Landeros Pinales. She married Bartholomew R. Prado on December 31, 1979, in Fort Madison, IA. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2017. She worked at the Dial Corporation in Fort Madison and was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Altar & Rosary Society of the church. She was also a member of St. Patrick’s in Iowa City for the past few years. She was a member of the Las Guadalupanas Association, LULAC Club, Eagles, Moose, and the prayer shawl group. She enjoyed cooking, traveling & going to Mass.

Maria is survived by her 3-sons: Jesus (Kelly) Pizana of Iowa City, IA, Raul Pizana of Tucson, AZ & Ray Prado of Fort Madison, IA; numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren; 3-brothers: Miguel Landeros of Fort Madison, IA, Javier Landeros of El Paso, TX, Daniel Landeros of El Paso, TX and 1-sister Rosario Barajas of Los Angeles, CA. She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband, 1 son: Bart Prado II, & 1-brother: Ruben Landeros.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church. The funeral mass will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gary Beckman officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her memory.
