Marjorie Alice Schneider, 90, of Carthage, passed away on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Maple Grove Care Center in Carthage.

She was born June 26, 1935, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin Joseph and Deloris Ernestine Schilson Piggott. Marjorie graduated from Hamilton High School and continued her education at Western Illinois University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education.

On June 26, 1966, Marjorie was united in marriage to Leo Schneider at Bethel Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2003.

Marjorie was employed as a junior high typing teacher in Freeport, Illinois, for twenty years. Following her retirement, she moved to Florida, where she enjoyed a warm climate and an active outdoor lifestyle.

She had a deep love for music and especially enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing along the Gulf. Most of all, Marjorie cherished visiting with her family and friends.

She is survived by her brother, J.D. Piggott (Marlene) of Hamilton, and eight nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Shirley Ziles and Dorothy DeYong.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 27th at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor Mark Hanson officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home with the family meeting with friends at that time.
