Michael “Mike” Joseph Sherrill

Michael Joseph “Mike” Sherrill, 63, of Keokuk, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

Mike was born on October 11, 1960, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Lawrence Edward and Mary Jo (Henley) Sherrill. He was employed at Climax as a fork lift operator, and received his GED in 1999, which he was very proud of.

Mike enjoyed spending his free time with his family or in the great outdoors. He loved to golf, kayak, water ski and fish. He also enjoyed cooking, barbequing, watching NCIS with his mother and eating at the Purple Cow with his brother. Mike was handy, and spent a great deal of time using his skills to renovate his home. Mike was also a jokester and always kept people laughing.

Mike is survived by his mother Mary Jo Sherrill of Keokuk; eight siblings: Linda Nihiser of Tower Hill, Illinois, Judith (Lloyd) Lash of Clinton, Illinois, Betty Sherrill of Keokuk, Terri (Pete) Shaffer of Washington, Iowa, Larry Sherrill of Keokuk, Doug (Susie) Sherrill of Keokuk, Diana Richardson of Keokuk and Steve Cramer of Hamilton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mike is preceded in death by his father Lawrence, his infant brother Larry Eugene and his grandparents.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held from 12 pm (Noon) to 3 pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at DeJong-Greaves-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 pm on Wednesday at Sand Cemetery in St. Francisville, Missouri. A procession to the cemetery will leave the funeral home directly following the celebration of life.
