Minnesota farmers catching up on planting

Minnesota farmers are catching up on planting after a slow start.

USDA’s latest weekly crop report shows corn planting is now one day ahead of the five-year average at 80 percent complete.  Corn emergence is 44 percent.

Soybeans are 53 percent planted compared to 29 percent a year ago and 57 percent normally.

For small grains, spring wheat is 74 percent planted, barley is at 66 percent, and 77 percent of the intended oat acres are seeded.
