Missouri corn farmer outlines national-level priorities

A farmer serving on the National Corn Growers Association’s Corn Board says getting the Next Generation Fuels Act across the finish line remains their top priority.

Gary Porter from Mercer, Missouri tells Brownfield, “If we can get this through, it means we can burn higher amounts of ethanol and replace the fuels that are contaminating the air. It will also lower the price for consumers at the pump while supporting farmers.”

He says they are also concerned about rising input costs, and if commodity prices begin to fall, it could mean big trouble for US farmers.
