New BBQ Restaurant With Familiar Owner

Lee County has a brand, spankin’ new barbecue joint, and early indications are that patrons are glad to have one so close to home. Fat Jimmy’s catering owner and proprietor James Stewart has been cooking barbecue for roughly a decade and he spoke about how he got into the food industry.

James, who is a pipe welder by trade, and his wife Kim had a loyal clientele and were kept busy on weekends with graduations, weddings, and festivals but recently decided Lee County could use a barbecue restaurant for the public.

So James and Kim built Fat Jimmy’s smokehouse just off River Road several miles south of Montrose and this past week they permanently opened for business. Under the current plan, the entrepreneurial couple will have the barbecue restaurant open Wednesday through Sunday until supplies run out each day.
