Ocean shipping legislation headed to president

The Ocean Shipping Reform Act passed the full Senate by a voice vote Thursday.

South Dakota Republican John Thune took to social media after its passage, saying the legislation will help deal with the supply chain crisis affecting the entire country and the agricultural industry.

“It’s going to bring much-needed relief to South Dakota farmers,” he says.

The bipartisan legislation is supported by 29 U.S. Senators and more than 100 organizations including the Agriculture Transportation Coalition, as well as being endorsed by the American Association of Port Authorities.
