Paul William Bruns, 75, of Basco, IL, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Paul was born in Keokuk, IA, on December 23, 1949. He was the son of Willie and Pauline (Leerhoff) Bruns. Paul attended Carthage High School, the class of 1968. At 18 years old, Paul purchased a brand-new tractor and started his farming operation. He spent time hauling cattle for Peck Plowman in the early 70’s and enjoyed pulling tractors in his spare time. On January 30, 1980, Paul was united in marriage to Ingrid Brammer at The Immanuel Lutheran Church near Basco. Paul went on to farm for most of his life until he retired. Even after retirement he could always be found tinkering with his cattle operation and fixing things around the house and farm. Paul enjoyed taking rides around the neighborhood in his side by side but what he found the most pride and enjoyment in was his family, especially his 3 Grandkids.
Paul is survived by his wife, Ingrid Bruns of Basco, IL, his son, Casey (Rebecca Trimble) Bruns of West Point, IL, his grandchildren, Maya Bruns, Ethan Bruns, Grayden Bruns, his siblings, Junior (Kaye) Bruns, Keith (Connie) Bruns, Betty (John) Peters, and brother-in-law, Jens Brammer.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Jason Bruns, his sister, Mary Lou, his brother-in-law, Gerd Brammer, and his sisters-in-law, Peggy Brammer, and Belita Brammer.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near Basco. A visitation will be held from 3-7 pm with family meeting friends from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made out to the family for an education fund for his grandchildren. Printy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
