Peter A. Higgins

Peter A. Higgins, 68, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 12:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Birkwood Village in Fort Madison. He was born on August 20, 1957 in Omaha, NE to James M. & Betty J. Currin Higgins. He married Mary K. Kottenstette on October 13, 1980 in Fort Madison, IA. They later divorced. He then married Deborah L. Brookhart in February of 2007 in Fort Madison, IA. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2019. He was a truck driver most of his life and enjoyed playing pool, fishing and rock hunting.

Pete is survived by: 1-daughter: Staci (Todd) Stillwagon of Conway, SC; 1-son: James Higgins of Fort Madison, IA; 4-siblings: Edith (Randy) Readinger of Fort Madison, IA, Daniel (Penny) Higgins of Fort Madison, IA, Shirley (Earl) Pranger of Fort Madison, IA & Kathy McPherson of Fort Madison, IA; 2-grandchildrn: Brayden & Briley Stillwagon of Conway, SC and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, his 2nd wife and 1-sister: Hazel Younk.
