Russell “Russ” Wilbur Beeler, 74, of Sutter, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at his home, surrounded by family, in Sutter.
Russ was born on October 19, 1949, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Wilbur and Dorothy (Roskamp) Beeler. On July 8, 1972, he was united in marriage to Karen Casper in Willowbrook, Illinois. Russ attended Tioga grade school and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1967. He went on to attend Joliet Jr. College, graduating from Illinois State University with a degree in Agriculture in 1972.
A lifelong farmer, Russ was an active member of the community and member of Bethany United Church of Christ in Tioga, serving on the church board and youth program, the Warsaw School Board, the Rocky Run-Wilcox Township Board Trustee, and the North Adams Nursing Home Board. Russ also served as a 4-H leader, and as a DEKALB-Asgrow seed dealer for over forty years. For thirty-two years, Russ has been a Warsaw FFA alumni. Russ also enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest love was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren
Russ is survived by his wife Karen Beeler of Sutter, Illinois; his daughter Lynette (Chad) Etter of Fox River Grove, Illinois; his son Jason (Joanne) Beeler of Warsaw; five grandchildren: Lukas, Claire and Cale Etter and Danielle and Nicholas Beeler; and his sister Marlene Beeler (Scott Trent) of Sutter.
Russ is preceded in death by his parents, his son Nicholas Beeler, and his brother-in-law Gary Andrew.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Bethany United Church of Christ in Tioga, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, January 21, at Printy Funeral Home in Warsaw.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Bethany United Church of Christ Church in Tioga or the Warsaw FFA.
Printy Funeral Home of Warsaw is in charge of arrangements.
