Shirley Sandra Briggs

Shirley Sandra Briggs, 83, of Keokuk, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Shirley was born on December 6, 1942, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Orville Lee and Alberta Lucille (Brisby) Stephenson. On September 3, 1960, she was united in marriage to William Henry Briggs, Jr., in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2024. Shirley held several jobs throughout her working career, including Sammy’s Market, Papa Chico’s, the Keokuk Country Club and she was a press operator at Deluxe Cleaners in Keokuk. She enjoyed being outside and loved to camp, fish and spend time on the river with her family. In her later years, she grew a large garden at her home in the country.

Shirley is survived by three sons: William L. (Debbie) Briggs, Robert Gene (Julie) Briggs and Terry Lenn (Amy) Briggs; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her husband William, her great-grandchild Valerie Rose Lihs, her sister Sheena Stephenson and her brother Kurtis Stephenson.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 12 pm on Friday, February 6, 2026, at DeJong-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday at Sand Cemetery in St Francisville, Missouri. A procession to the cemetery will leave the funeral home following the visitation.
