Susan “Sue” Diane Othmer-Mallory, 83, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa.

Sue was born on December 28, 1942, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Leslie Earl and Cleo Illeana (Schlotter) Othmer. She graduated from Keokuk High School in 1961 and went on to further her education at Keokuk Community College and Gem City Business College. She also proclaimed her faith in Christ through baptism in 1961. On July 22, 1977, she was united in marriage to Richard Dunn in Fort Madison, Iowa. They were later divorced. On April 30, 2004, she was united in marriage to Michael Mallory in Keokuk. He preceded her in death in February of 2017.

Sue was employed at Hoerner Box (Stone Container), the Keokuk Country Club and finished her working career at Shaeffer Pen. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Keokuk, where she was involved in the choir, and was the secretary of BPW. Sue enjoyed travel, working in Ontario, Canada, for a brief time and vacationing to Hawaii and Israel. When she was home, Sue enjoyed watching westerns, mysteries and documentaries, spending time outside and doing yardwork at her home, and solving crossword puzzles. She was an avid lover of cats and played piano in her younger years.

Sue is survived by two sisters: Becky McAlexander and Julie (Chris) Ramsey, both of Keokuk; her nephew Matthew (Nicole) McAlexander of Lisbon, Iowa; her niece Jennifer Reed of Iowa City, Iowa; three stepchildren: Mike Mallory, Jr., Carrie Mallory and Marlo (Ben) Meyer; her stepbrother Rick Biddenstadt of Plano, Texas; and two special younger friends: Braylynn Meyers and Nicole Cooper, both of Keokuk. Other survivors include one great-nephew, three great-nieces, several step-grandchildren and cousins, and other family members.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike, her stepmother Barbara Othmer, her brother Gary Othmer and her brother-in-law Arnold McAlexander.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at DeJong-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, June 29, 2026, at DeJong-Printy Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Keokuk.

Memorials may be directed to the Keokuk Humane Society.
