Verna Ileen (Fecht) Thomas

Verna Ileen Thomas, 90, of Fallbrook, California, formerly of Carthage, passed away at her home on Wednesday afternoon, January 17, 2024.

Verna was born April 19, 1933, the daughter of George and Emma (Eilers) Fecht in Carthage, Illinois.  She attended Carthage High School, graduating in 1951.  On August 31, 1957, she was united in marriage to Byard Thomas at the Immanuel Lutheran Church south of Carthage.

Verna is survived by her two sons, Gary and Rob Thomas, both of Fallbrook; a daughter, Joyce Edinger of Texas; seven grandchildren, Nick, Jeremy and Shawn Thomas, Darin Thomas, Katie Peguese, Kelsey Burkhart and Ryan Edinger; eight great grandchildren, Franklin and Jackson Thomas, Bianca Thomas, Alaina Armijo and Eliana, Aria, Zakari and Zenni Peguese; and her siblings, Roger Fecht (Nancy) of Carthage, Marilyn Bruns (Darold) of Carthage and Herbert Fecht (Lorene) of Carthage. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, George E. Fecht and Emma Fecht (Eilers); her husband Byard Thomas; and her two brothers Melvin Fecht and Donald Fecht.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with burial to follow at Moss Ridge Cemetery in Carthage.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 at the funeral home.
