William Henry Briggs, Jr., 82, of Keokuk, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at his home in rural Keokuk.
William was born on February 19, 1942, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of William Henry Briggs, Sr. and Lelah Chloe (Bryant) Briggs. On September 03, 1960, he was united in marriage to Shirley Sandra Stephenson at the Assembly of God Church in Keokuk. She survives. William was employed at Sheller-Globe for twenty years and was a member of Local #444. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved living in the country. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
William is survived by his wife Shirley Briggs of Keokuk; three sons: William L. (Debbie) Briggs, Robert Gene (Julie) Briggs and Terry Lenn (Amy) Briggs; his brother Robert Briggs; sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren with one on the way.
William is preceded in death by his parents; six siblings: Byrd (Pat) Carlton, Tressler “Tuffy” (Shirley) Carlton, Horras Carlton, infant Doris Carlton, Lucille (Don) Carlson, and Rosa Ann (Jim) Smith; sister-in-law Sandy Briggs and great-granddaughter Valerie Rose Lihs.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 pm on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, 917 Blondeau Street, Keokuk, Iowa. Burial will be held at a later date at Sand Cemetery in St. Francisville, Missouri.
