Tennessee has been without measurable rainfall for several weeks resulting in declining crop conditions. Some parts of the state have entered into D1 or moderate drought conditions. The USDA says some areas of Minnesota have become very dry and need rain.  Seven percent of topsoil moisture was rated very short, with 34% short, 54% adequate, and 5% surplus. Six percent of subsoil moisture was very short, with 29% short, 61% adequate, and 4% surplus. Rains down in Arkansas

Recent rains have benefited crops in Arkansas. The USDA reports as of Sunday 13 percent of corn is silking, nine percent of cotton has reached the squaring stage and 38 percent of soybeans are blooming. USDA says soil moisture has improved slightly in South Dakota in the last week and crop conditions vary. In the latest crop progress and conditions report, the agency says topsoil and supplies are rated 53% short to very short, an improvement from the previous week. The first rain in weeks arrived in Michigan Sunday but USDA officials say more is needed. The agency says 91 percent of the topsoil moisture is in short to very short supply across the state.  Fire conditions remain rated in the ‘extreme’ category in Northern Michigan. MO forage supplies continue to move lower

Forage supplies continue to decline in Missouri due to the dry conditions. USDA’s latest Crop Progress and Condition report says supplies are 63% short to very short as hay cutting continues.
