ISP Releases Information On Fatal Accident In Nauvoo

The Illinois State Police has released the following information on last nights fatal hay rack ride accident in Nauvoo. While the original press release published the names of many of the accident victims, Radio Keokuk is choosing to redact and not publish those names at this time in respect to the individuals and families privacy.

WHEN: Oct. 24, 2020 at approximately 9:06 p.m.

VEHICLE: Unit 1- 1994 Green John Deere Tractor Trailer Combination

DRIVER: Unit 1- A 41-year-old male of Nauvoo, IL

PASSENGERS: 32-year-old female of Hamilton, IL (Pending next of kin notification) Deceased

A 43-year-old male of Hamilton, IL (Transported to a local area hospital with injuries)

A 36-year-old female of Hamilton, IL (Transported to a local area hospital with injuries)

A 41-year-old female of Hamilton, IL (Transported to a local area hospital with injuries)

PRELIMINARY: A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling northbound on 800 East. Unit 1 was towing a double-axle trailer with over 20 people riding on square hay bales, Unit 1 lost control and ran off the right side (east side) of 800 East near 2000 North. Unit 1 overturned and the driver was ejected. Multiple passengers were ejected from Unit 1 trailer.
