Keokuk Area Community Foundation Establishes ‘Highlyn Apartment Fire Support Fund’

Keokuk, IA – January 21, 2025 – In response to the devastating fire that occurred last night at the Highlyn Apartment Complex in Keokuk, the Keokuk Area Community Foundation has established the “Highlyn Apartment Fire Support Fund” to assist the more than 20 residents and families affected by this tragedy. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported, but the fire caused severe damage, leaving many individuals without homes or belongings.

The Foundation has made an initial donation of $10,000 to the fund and is encouraging members of the community to contribute. Donations can be made through an online portal, which has been set up to streamline the process for those wishing to help.

All funds raised will be distributed through the local non-profit philanthropic group “Keokuk XII,” which will ensure the donations reach the victims who need them most.

“The Keokuk Area Community Foundation always seeks to assist non-profit organizations serving the people of our community and Keokuk,” said Executive Director Roger Ricketts.

Chair of the Board Leah Carroll added, “The foundation is proud to be partnering with Keokuk XII on this effort. We have the word community in our name because the people who are a part of it are our number one priority.”

The Keokuk Area Community Foundation is calling on everyone in the community to come together to support those who have lost so much in this disaster. Donations of any size are welcome and will make a significant impact on the lives of those affected.
