We lost one of the best last week.
One of the best race car drivers from Keokuk? Yes. One of the best drivers from Iowa? Yes.
An ARCA champion? A NASCAR pole-sitter? Yes and yes.
But Ramo was more than all of this. He was one of the best of all of us. An amazing husband, father, and most definitely one of the best friends.
We were fortunate to sit down and spend some time with Ramo a few years back here at the Radio Keokuk studios for the Inside Track. Dave could have sat and talked with Ramo all night, stories of racing and life. Ramo was full of both of them. We are so grateful to have these words from Ramo to hold on to his memory for years to come.
Here’s to you Ramo.

First of all, I’m very sad to hear of Mr. Stotts passing. Another legend has left us. I enjoyed listening to this interview very much! I had heard a little about him years ago,in fact I bought a set of post cards, showing the drivers & their winged cars. Mr. Stott was kneeling beside his #7 in the grass. I just found out that I was a distant relative of him. My late uncle John Hawley, was also his uncle. I just read an article published in his local newspaper about his amazing life! If it hadn’t been shared on Facebook, by my cousin Beth Hawley of Circleville, OH,I’d never had known this! She also just shared this interview, & thanks to her I’m able to learn a little more about this amazing man! My sincerest condolences go out to his family & many friends. RIP Mr. Stott.
