United Way of the Great River Region Announces its Fall 2022 Campaign

United Way of the Great River Region will kick off their Fall 2022 giving campaign at their annual Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser on Thursday, September 22, 2022.  The event will be held at the Lake Cooper Foundation building located at 810 S. Main Street in Keokuk, Iowa.  Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from Eventbrite.com or any Board member, staff person or at the door.  The goal of the Fall 2022 giving campaign is to raise $225,000 to fund needs in our tri-county area.

The theme for this year’s campaign is “United, We are Stronger”. When you give to United Way of the Great River Region everyone in Clark, Hancock, and Lee counties will benefit.  Your efforts will support United Way partner agencies in our tri-county area in three priorities:

  • Education: helping children and youth achieve their potential through education
  • Health: improving people’s health and access to services
  • Income: helping families become financially stable and independent

UWGRR Board President, Leah Jones says, “When the community donates to the United Way, no matter how large or small of a donation it is, they’re not just giving to the United Way, they’re giving to all of our other local non-profit partner agencies. That contribution helps those agencies fund their programs to feed and clothe those in need, educate children through literacy, empower local families and children with programs to overcome the challenges they face and to foster growth. The fall 2022 United Way of the Great River Region campaign is just that, a campaign to help those in need in the entire region, Lee, Hancock, and Clark County in a way that has great impact on their lives and future.  Because ‘United, We are Stronger’”.

Some of the highlights this year include:

  • Grant funding to 22 funded partnering agencies in the tri-county area
  • Volunteers enrolled in the 55+ Initiative/Retired Senior Volunteer Program provided services to over 10 community organizations
  • Volunteer Tax Assistance Program in partnership with the IRS helped 285 taxpayers
  • Back to School Festival with Trinity United Methodist Church distributed over 500 backpacks filled with school supplies
