Little rain and heat headlined Iowa’s latest weekly crop update from USDA. Despite the lack of rainfall, topsoil moisture is rated 80 percent adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is 74 percent adequate to surplus. MO crops progress picks up with drier week

Missouri’s crop progress picked up the pace last week. USDA says nearly all the state’s corn has emerged. The crop’s rating dropped some to 70 percent good to excellent. Milk futures were mostly down and cash dairy prices were mixed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Tuesday. A hot and dry week helped farmers make progress in the fields, but now, rain is needed.
